Paihia Beach Resort & Spa Restaurant, Provenir, to showcase at Plate of Origin 2016.
Top Bay of Islands restaurant, Provenir, at the Paihia Beach Resort & Spa, will be on display for an international audience through their selection in Plate of Origin 2016.
Provenir is one of only 20 restaurants selected from across the country to compete in the new national competition that will be hosted during the New Zealand Agri Investment Week, 14th – 19th March 2016.
“Everyone here at Paihia Beach Resort & Spa is so incredibly proud of the Provenir team and are very excited to see what they will produce for the Plate of Origin,” says Lyndsey Morrison, resort manager of Paihia Beach Resort & Spa.
Located within Pahia Beach Resort and Spa, Provenir is all about a farmer to table philosophy. “Where possible we source all our ingredients locally. We get our oysters fresh from across the bay in Russell,” says Lyndsey.
Led by German –born Head Chef Marcus Berndt, the modern poolside restaurant features a seasonally driven menu and will attract many through its doors during the Plate of Origin competition.
Recently settling in the beautiful Bay of Islands, Marcus has already had great success heading the team at Provenir and he has an emphasis on top quality ingredients which are prepared to perfection.
Featuring breath taking vistas of the surrounding Pacific Ocean, Provenir is the perfect place for a special occasion. “Nothing is more special than eating some high quality and locally sourced food, while watching the moonlight bounce off and illuminate the ocean,” say Lyndsey.
The final dishes will be available for purchase in the Manawatu counterpart restaurant during the NZAI Week in March, which will host New Zealand and international delegates. Cuisine Magazine Editor, radio show host and foodie Kelli Brett will head the 2016 Plate of Origin judging team during the Week, with champion restaurants featured in the May edition of Cuisine Magazine.
