Swim Classic a Treat for Guests of Paihia Beach Resort & Spa

If you’re staying at Paihia Beach Resort & Spa on Saturday 18 March, you’re in for a special treat! Paihia Beach is the setting for the Bay of Islands Classic - the sixth of seven events in the New Zealand Ocean Swim Series and it’s right across the road from Paihia Beach Resort & Spa.

Paihia Beach Resort & Spa is an award-winning, boutique resort, situated on the waterfront overlooking Paihia Beach in the beautiful Bay of Islands.

The resort includes top quality day spa, La Spa Naturale, as well as the popular restaurant, Provenir Cuisine & Cellar.

The Bay of Islands Classic is a yearly swimming event, consisting of three different swims covering all ages and abilities:

1. 'I’m Going Long' - a 3.3km swim across the bay from Russell to Paihia.
2. 'Give it a Go' - a 300m swim taking place off Paihia Beach. A great introduction to open water swimming.
3. '3. ''OceanKids' - a swim for children aged between 7-12 years old, consisting of a 200m shallow water swim along the Paihia beach shore line, lined with Surf Life Saving NZ guards.

"This is an exciting event which brings swimmers and spectators flocking to the beach," says Lyndsey Morrison, manager of Paihia Beach Resort & Spa.

"The longest swim involves crossing the bay to Russell, which is an important historical town for the Bay of Islands and for New Zealand, being the county’s first capital."
